Zespol "Swarni" z Kanady zostal zalozony w styczniu 2001 . Trzon zespolu tworza ludzie urodzeni w Polsce, jednak duza grupe stanowi mlodziez urodzona w Kanadzie, z dala od Polski, dla ktorej tradycje goralskie znane sa tylko z opowiadan rodzicow i filmow.

Obok doroslych dziala rowniez grupa"Mali Swarni", ktora jes przyszloscia"Swarnych z Kanady Oprocz tego dziala szkolka muzyki goralskiej. Zespol w swoim programie prezentuje folklor Podhala. Do najbardziej interesujacych nalezy zaliczyc stary goralski zwyk wybor bacy i wyrob oscypkow, jak rowniez widowisko, w ktorym czlonkowie zespolu w sposob humorystyczny prezentuja fragmenty" Historii Filozofii Po Goralsku" wedlog ks.prof.Jozefa Tischnera, nie mozna tez pominac wspaniale wykonywanych tancow goralskich. Obecnie kierownikiem choreografem a zarazem zalozycielem "Swarnych z Kanady" jest Andrzej Pitek, byly czlonek zespolu "Swarni" z Nowego Targu, mieszkajacy w Toronto.

      The formation of the Swarni dance ensemble took place in January 2001. The founder of the group and current instructor is Andrew Pitek.  The roots of the group are formed by people born in Poland, while for the most part, the group is made of young people born in Canada, who became familiar with the highlander traditions from stories told by their parents and from movies. There is also "Mali Swarni", the little ones, which hold the future of the group. The group partakes in many concerts and festivals grabbing the audiences' attention with its remarkable shows as well as the top spots in competitions.

      The group entertains their audiences with breathtaking programs of the cultural dances and songs from the highlander region, and shows filled with highlander traditions, such as the famous making of "oscypki", a type of cheese. All program ideas are derived from tales of the past, coming from the people that were once shepherds in the highlands.
